This course is designed to provide Professional Engineers a thorough understanding of what the Industrial Technologies Program is and how, through its partnerships, it is developing new technologies that are completely transforming United States manufacturing, thereby affecting both industry and the economy. The commercialized technologies described in Part 1 of the course are broken down into individual industry focuses. The industries discussed include the following: aluminum, metal casting, glass, chemical, forest products, information and communication technology, mining, petroleum refining, and steel. The course outlines the energy saving benefits of each technology and describes, in detail, how each will affect its corresponding industry. Project partners are also introduced.
