This course is designed to introduce students to environmentally friendly landscaping and site design. It will educate the construction professional on ways to minimize resource depletion in terms of material and energy use by reducing water consumption and utility consumption. It defines and identifies native plant materials and the benefit of their use in comparison with exotic invasive species typically found in the landscape. It describes the potential positive environmental impacts of utilizing drought-tolerant turf species and outlines strategic uses of landscape trees as well as building configuration in site design for Florida.
