This course is designed to provide Professional Engineers with a basic understanding of nanotechnology and its advanced application to manufacturing processes. Nanotechnology is a growing field both domestically and abroad, and its application to industry is predicted to have a vast impact on manufacturing and the United States’ economy. This course outlines basic advantages of commercial scale nanomanufacturing, and goes into further detail on specific concept definition studies and process development projects, which are funded and partnered by the United States Department of Energy. The studies and projects described in this course seek to make revolutionary improvements in a broad range of energy production, storage, and consumption applications that will reduce energy and carbon intensity in industrial processes.
