Photovoltaics 1

This course is designed to provide licensees with a thorough understanding of how photovoltaics function, as well as, common materials that make up photovoltaic cells. Part 1 of this course explains solar radiation basics, the factors that affect it and the history and current importance of photovoltaic cells. It will explore the structure of crystalline silicon PV cells and the fundamentals of bandgap energy, detail the basics of semi-conductor function and identify the materials used to make PV cells and any specific processes, advantages, or drawbacks associated with those materials.
