This course is designed to provide Construction Professionals with a thorough understanding of fan system components and methods to increase performance using a “systems approach”. The course details the content of the sourcebook for Improving Fan System Performance, authored and developed by the United States Department of Energy. Part 1 of the course emphasizes the importance of initial fan selection, details the proper assessment of operating conditions, pinpoints the most common types of fans and the applications for which their used, reviews the major components of a fan system and pinpoints key areas to improve efficiency, and covers basic maintenance procedures.
